The Enlightenment of Bob

Premise:
“Skate or Die” aka “The Enlightenment of Bob” (Feature:Action/drama) a coming of age drama, set in the hard core "hood" of Venice, California.

When Bob, a young, overly aggressive pro skateboarder, breaks his neck attempting an insane jump from one rooftop to another and is paralyzed - he begins to realize that something happened during his near death experience and now has “Christ-like” powers to heal. Father Tom, who aids in his recovery, sees this as a miracle and a chance to change the world and his faith in God. Yet Bob wants only to get back to skateboarding and winning - until his world begins to crumble and he is forced to choose between the desires of his ego and the calling of his spirit.

In writing and directing Skate or Die, Garrett brings his intimate knowledge of both the skateboarding sub-culture and his many years of metaphysical and spiritual studies to bear. Inspired by real life events - Skate or Die gives an authentic portrait of the Venice Beach skate world and a fascinating and original take on the meaning and struggle of contemporary spirituality in the ever changing and not always picturesque world of Southern California. Garrett draws on his vast network for friends and co-workers to make up the key crew personal for this film - all bring many years of production experience, a passion for filmmaking and unbreakable belief in Skate or Die
